Information and Application for Board Member of The Learning Trail
The Learning Trail is seeking Board members who will actively support the work of the organization, bring valuable perspectives, lived experiences, knowledge and leadership skills relevant to its mission and consistent with its vision and values.
Mission: To provide low-income children and their families needed academic and social support so the children can reach their full potential.
Vision: To minimize the education gap that exists for Hispanic children living at or near poverty and facilitate an equal opportunity for academic and ultimately, lifelong success.
Values: The Learning Trail values fairness, acceptance, compassion, respect, and community. These values lead us to provide educational programs to help low-income children develop academically, socially, and emotionally; to offer programs to parents to empower them to support their children’s education and development; to listen and respects parents’ voices, and to facilitate a greater sense of community around these programs.
The Board is composed of 9 members, each serving a 3-year term and may be elected for a second term. Each member is expected to attend 4 Board meetings per year and serve on one or more committees, assist in strategic planning, monitor The Learning Trail’s programs and services, ensure strong fiduciary oversight, and assist in fundraising and enhancing The Learning Trail’s reputation. Additionally, Board members are expected to help recruit new Board members.
